Merry Christmas and Happy New Year...almost, sneaking in a post just under a wire. It's been a whirlwind of a November and December with the catalog, the bridal magazine, and Christmas craziness, choir singing, and spiritual reflection. But I would do it all over again, I learned a lot. One of my special assignments amidst everything was learning to make special effects silicone prosthetics because we started to carry the supplies at Blick. I made this number on my hand from scratch: carved the clay, made the mold, poured the silicone, glued it to my skin, pressed on the nails, and painted it up. It feels weirdly just like skin and comes off super easy when you're ready for it to come off. I'd really like to play with more designs :) After it was photographed I played around with a mock design of an 80s horror flick or book. (Kudos to my coworker Derek for the play on my name, ha ha) Enjoy!
